Lelia Zhvirblis is the cofounder of Tildita and a designer with a background in urban research and observing how people live, move, and interact with space.

After many years of working with cities, everyday routes, and human behaviour — and after becoming a mother — her focus gradually expanded toward the design of objects for children. Having been drawn to handmade practices since childhood, Lelia connected this personal interest with her professional and life background, leading to the creation of children’s play rugs inspired by landscapes.

At MeerStraat, she combines a research-driven perspective with a more intuitive and artistic language, turning maps, landscapes, memories, and children’s imagination into design objects. These are not simply decorative rugs, but small worlds: tactile, warm, and playful.
